“privilege entails responsibility”

“Noblesse oblige” is a useful French term to guide a leader, like “delicadeza” in Spanish. Simply, it means “privilege entails responsibility” -- or “noble people are obliged to behave nobly.” An operative norm in many societies, it imposes a severe discipline in the actuations of a leader. For example, in Japan, one who does a dishonest or shameful act is expected to take the extreme measure of taking his own life.
